New Project

In case you are looking for a new project to get involved in my friend Bernice is starting a new creative challenge blog called 12 months in view. Details here. Each month there will be various challenges with the themes of seasons.

I am hoping to join in and as it is more spread out, and we are shortly moving and I will get my craft stuff out of storage (hurrah!) hoping to actually keep up. Are you joining in?

A Pause in Lent - Wk 2

Running late again with my Pause for this week, but never mind.

The lines from William Ward's poem that spoke to me this week are:

Fast from pessimism, Feast on optimism.
Fast from negatives, Feast on affirmatives

I think it is all to easy to get stuck on the negatives in our lives and to become pessimist (at least I know I do), but our God is a great God, He has made many promises to us and He will keep them. So why not try this week and focus on the positive things in your life and to give thanks to God for them.

If you want to read some more Pauses in Lent pop over to Floss's Blog

A Pause in Lent Week 1

OK so how come it is Lent already, wasnt it just Christmas last week??? Anyway I am joining in again with a Pause in Lent which is hosted by Floss. This year it is suggested that we look at some lines from a William Ward poem Fast From - Feast On.

The two lines which spoke to me this week are:

Fast from problems that overwhelm: Feast on prayer that strengthens
Fast from worry: Feast on divine order.

We get the keys to our new house on Friday this week and work will hopefully start on Monday in the kitchen and the decorating, so these two lines seemed very appropriate for me as I can feel the tension and anxiety levels starting to rise again. I need to remind myself that God is in control, and has been with us throughout this whole time. Prayer really is the answer to problems. If you have never tried praying then I would urge you to try it this Lent season.

Why not pop over to Floss's blog and catch up with some other thoughts for Lent.

Meet Olly

the owl. I saw this lovely cushion and just had to buy it for my bedroom. I thought it looked so cute. I really like owls and am getting a collection, which I will need to photograph and post for you to see.

A new hat

As I don't think we are quite finished with the cold weather yet I have knitted myself a new hat. This slouchy beanie hat was knitted in Rico Creative Galaxy Chunky wool. This wool is lovely and soft and has some sequins through it for a bit of glitter. Quite pleased with it.

A visitor

We had a visitor to our garden yesterday, this little fox turned up and had a sleep under the garden bench. He (or she) was there for several hours before going on his way.

New wellies

I recently bought myself a pair of new wellies. I have not had wellies for years but really like the colours of these ones and thought they would come in handy for walking down by the river and woods near our house.

Just to prove I did actually wear them and get them dirty.

Saturday was a lovely sunny, but cold day, so we went out a walk (me in my new wellies).

Hopefully we will get some more nice days to go out walking again soon, although as I type this there is a thin layer of snow on the ground again!!!

A new month

I for one am glad that January is now over, it wasn't the best month, very dark, wet, windy and a bit of snow. I had the cold and felt down most of the month. However now it is February and hopefully spring is just around the corner.

We have some snowdrops at the front of our house

I managed to get some crafting done at the weekend. My friend BJ had kindly sent me everything that I would need to do a tag based on Tim Holtz January 2013 tag and here it is

(oops should have turned it before uploading). I used my Inktense crayons to colour in base tag and then Promarkers for the other bits. I enjoyed doing this  and thanks again to BJ. Who knows I might even try and do some more tags.
