Busy Weekend

Another busy weekend, since working every day the weekends seem to go by so much faster. My crop went well on Saturday, there was a good turnout and everyone enjoyed the chat (oh and also the scrapping). I made these cards for a team challenge on my UK Scrappers team, Prima Donnas. We are all swapping cards giving some information about ourselves, so it will help to get to know each other a bit better.

This is a picture of one of the pieces of wooden ornaments that Gordon brought back from Malawi. It is a set of elephant shaped book-ends. He now thinks that we need to buy some new books to go in the middle of them. As if we need any more books in our house!

I got my new car today - a Honda Jazz, silver coloured. Been out for a short drive in it tonight and it seems fine and quite comfy.

Night at the Movies

I don't go to the pictures very often but when I do I seem to see two in the same week! Went to the cinema tonight with mum, we saw Miss Potter. It was really good but sad at bits. Took the kids last night to see A Night at the Museum, which was also actually quite good. The kids loved it.

Off to my monthly crop tomorrow and really looking forward to it. These are the two LOs I have done for it using the Scrapaholics kit. I hope everyone else likes them. They are for John's London album that I have been doing for him of his trip there last summer with his Aunt.
It has been a really busy week at work this week. I've also managed to get myself involved with the setting up of School Parent Council at Andrew's school. I really should learn not to go to meetings and ask questions.

Time flies.

I just don't know where the time goes to. We went up to Glasgow at the weekend as hubbie was flying back from Malawi. He arrived home safely and had a very interesting and worthwhile trip. He also brought back some nice pieces of carved wood, when I get time to take some piccies I will share them with you.

Took the kids to the pictures to see Epic Movie and Arthur and the Invisibles - least said about both of these movies the better!

It was back to school today for all of us. Never mind it's only six weeks until Easter holidays!!

Sorry no piccies today - will need to get more organised.

Nursery Rhyme

This is a LO I have just finished for the House Challenge on UK Scrappers. The LO was to be based on a Nursery Rhyme. The photo was taken a few years ago now and is of my eldest son digging the garden! Shame the gardening bug didnt catch on and now he's old enough to be really useful he doesn't want to help anymore. The paper I have used is ColorFlowers II Collection - Pansy Garden by twelveby12.

I had to go into work this morning for an In Service day. This afternoon the boys wanted to go down to the Cyber Centre to use their computers. I'm not actually sure what the attraction is in using theirs instead of the one we have at home, but never mind it passed the afternoon. Roll on Monday when they go back to school.

Happy Valentines Day

Love is in the air today. I got these lovely flowers delivered this morning from my husband. This was a huge surprise as we don't normally 'do' Valentine's Day much and he is in Malawi at the moment. He must have been very organised and ordered them before he left. It made my day.

Went to the Opticians yesterday for an eye test and ordered myself two new pairs of glasses - credit card took a bashing! I hate getting new glasses and it is so difficult to choose a pair as its quite tricky to see what you really look like without your prescription glasses. I hope they look alright when I get them in a couple of weeks.

First day of hols...

First day of the holidays today. Took the boys and a friend of theirs swimming this morning. They had a great time. I was exhausted mind you and fell asleep after lunch. This afternoon they all played happily together while I did some studying. I'm doing an OU course on Exploring Psychology.

Managed to do a Circle Journal entry today on My Favourite Book. I couldn't choose just one book as I love reading and read all sorts of different types of books, so I mentioned some of my favourite ones. I haven't taken a photo as the CJ is for Eleanor and I dont want to spoil the surprise when she gets the CJ back.

Found this on Blogthings - surely it can't be true!!! I suppose at least I'm only 49% addicted - it could have worse. Why don't you have a go and see how addicted you are?
You Are 49% Addicted to the Internet

You're somewhat addicted to the internet - but who isn't?
You can keep it under check, and you're by no means a hermit.

Hurrah!

I'm on holiday now for a week, thank goodness. This week has been really hectic and busy at work. I'll be glad of the rest, although when I hear all the things the boys want to do this week I'm not too sure I'll be getting a rest!

Got round to doing my January LO for my 2007 Journal. I have used Basic Grey Fruitcake papers. I didn't have any photos that were suitable so thought I would just use journalling on tags. I have listed my NY resolutions that I made - lose weight, get more exercise, organise my time and finances - not really sure I'm getting on very well with any of them yet!! I went to see two films in January - Flushed Away and Casino Royale - I enjoyed both of them. I also thought it would be good to list how much scrapping I get done each month.

This is a photo of my new stamps that arrived today from Clever Cut. I really like them and can't wait to use them. Will try and use the journalling stamps on my February LO.

Scrapping at last

At last I have managed to find some time to actually do some scrapping! On UK Scrappers Yorkiegirl is running a 2007 Journal Challenge, where you have to keep a journal throughout this year. I decided to give this a go and have finally got round to making my journal. I am going to keep daily(?) entries in a separate notebook and then at the end of the month do a double page LO highlighting that month. I have now made the journal, done the front cover and an intro page - only January's LOs to go now. I am also managing to keep the entries in my notebook going too. Feeling rather pleased with myself actually - I hope it continues.
Although you might notice whats missing from the front cover - the date 2007. Yes, I have discovered that I do not have any stamps with numbers on them or even any number stickers - I will have to remedy this and go stash shopping!! Oh what a trial! Watch out credit card!

I have used stamps from Banana Frog and Scrapagogo and have highlighted the swirls at the side of the intro page with Glossy Accents.

Sunday on a Monday

Well I was going to post this last night but either it was me or blogger wasnt letting me upload photos - either way I got fed up and tired and gave up. Its now working OK today.

I thought I'd try and follow the Sunday blog thought on UK Scrappers today. It was

What changes do you plan to make in your life in the coming months. Do you like or loathe change?

I quite like change as I hate to get in a rut and do things the same way all the time. I would like to change my job sometime in the future. My husband is also thinking about looking for a different job so a major change may well happen in the coming months.

Other changes I would like to see happen are that I finally manage to lose some weight and get more exercise into my week. Starting and keeping up with this blog is a major change that I have started this year, which is encouraging me to keep up with my scrapping.

I decided to experiment with my alcohol inks today and made this butterfly card. It was already cut into shape on glossy card, so I alcohol inked it and then glued on various bits of bling. I'm not sure whether I like it or not.

This LO is another one I have done for John's London Album. He went with his aunt to London for a week last summer and had a great time. It was a treat for him for finishing primary school and starting secondary. It is taking me a while though to get all the photos scrapped. It was taken at Legoland, Windsor, which he visited for the day.

The weekend at last....

Well am I glad its the weekend! I feel really tired after being back at work all week, thank goodness only one more week to go before the holidays.

Digital photography course was good last night. We were looking at the basic tools in Elements. I have to admit I have only actually ever used red eye tool and crop tool before. It was good to learn about the clone tool, lasso, marquee tool. I shall have to do some practising now! The class is now off for three weeks as the tutor is away so that will give me lots of time to practise.

The weather is really sunny here now after being very frosty this morning, so I thought Id share this fun idea with you.

You Are A Lily

You are a nurturer and all around natural therapist.
People see you as their rock. And they are able to depend on you.
You are a soothing influence. You can make people feel better with a few words.
Your caring has more of an impact than even you realize.
